Northeast Tennessee DSA is an officially recognized chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. We cover seven counties in Northeast Tennessee: Carter, Greene, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Washington, and Unicoi.
As an explicitly working class organization, we provide political education, resources, and on-the-ground organizing in the fight for material victories that improve the lives of working class and low income people. We believe that only through solidarity across the working class will we be able to create a future in which we enjoy true freedoms: freedom from hunger, freedom from housing instability, freedom from exploitation of our labor and our bodies, freedom from health and education debt, freedom from the predation of profit, freedom from poverty, freedom from the perpetration and protection of discrimination and harassment, and the freedom of having a genuine voice in the discussions and decisions—economic, ecological, and governmental—that affect our lives and futures.

Rooted in Place—Connected to the World
As socialists in Appalachia, we acknowledge the common ground Appalachia shares with other colonized and semi-colonized areas worldwide that suffer from resource extraction and low-wage jobs that primarily benefit distant corporations. The struggles of Appalachia are connected to international struggles for self-determination and community development.
In Appalachia—and worldwide—we need cooperative, sustainable, democratic development that brings whole communities forward.
We all deserve to participate in making the economic decisions that will affect our lives.
In Northeast TN DSA, our power lies with our membership, who propose and vote on our projects and direction, form and operate our committees, and carry out all our important work. We hope you will JOIN US.
