Labor Walkouts on TV!

Join us October 5th from 7pm to 11pm to watch and discuss labor walkouts depicted in popular television shows. Free refreshments and popcorn will be available.

New Monthly Sunday Meetings

Are Wednesday evenings not good for you? We now have a Sunday afternoon meeting on the last Sunday of every month. In addition to keeping you informed of what’s going on with Northeast TN DSA, the meetings will focus on political discussion & education as well as skill building. The first of these meetings will be September 29th from noon to 2pm. Don’t worry if you haven’t had lunch—we’ll have some basic lunch stuff on hand.

Local Bernie Watch Parties

If you’re near Elizabethton or Bristol, you’re in luck: local watch parties have been organized by Bernie supporters for Bernie’s Town Hall on CNN this Monday. Elizabethton’s takes place at Beef O’Brady’s from 7 pm to 9 pm (Facebook event page) and Bristol’s takes place at Valentino’s from 7:30 pm to 10 pm (facebook event page)

If Bernie runs: DSA’s endorsement debate process

DSA national has posted the endorsement debate process for when/if Bernie Sanders announces his run for president. Chapters are asked to begin in-person discussions about the campaign as soon as possible. There would also be a poll sent out to members. You can read the debate process here

Our potluck social got changed to a meet-up at Mid City Grill due to lack of power in the building. Mid City Grill is located at 106 S. Commerce St in Johnson City, TN. We’ll be there from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Tacos for Teachers
DSA Los Angeles, ISO Los Angeles, and California Educators Rising have teamed up to organize taco trucks at the picket lines to feed strikers. Any funds beyond what’s needed for the food will be sent to to central strike solidarity fund with Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools. Donate here.

Regional Pre-convention Conference in Knoxville, February 23-24

“The conferences will have trainings on convention procedures, like how to use Robert’s Rules of Order, and the timeline leading into the convention. There will be a special training for chapter Harassment and Grievance Officers. We’ll also have organizing skills trainings, and we’re building in unstructured social time for members to build relationships across chapters.” If you’re a DSA member in Northeast TN & you’d like to attend, get in touch with our chapter.
